On January 15th of this year, Hannah was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She has been a real trooper and never complains when it's time to check her blood glucose or get her shot. It's certainly turned our world upside down. The first two weeks were very difficult for me. As I've tried to learn about this disease and how to best care for Hannah, I've had many, many concerns. Many sleepless nights, as we've had to check her at 2:00a.m. She's finally reaching a level that the nurse feels is safe so there is no need for the early morning checks. So for now, she gets checked four times a day and gets between 2 and 4 shots a day. We're learning to count carbs and eat healthier. The next trick is to get her on a consistent exercise program. Hannah plays the piano well and can rock the guitar on Rock Band, but for now she's only exercising her fingers.

Our Sweet Hannah!
I still have my fears but I know that Hannah will get through this, we all will. Her family is a great support system and we love her very much. She has a lot to look forward to!

I can only imagine how tough that would be...seeing my kids suffer and worrying about them are the toughest things in life. My thoughts are with you guys.

Hi,
My name is Michelle and my daughter, Emma, was diagnosed at the age of 2, 2 years ago. I admire your strength and want you to know that things will get better. I am the mentor chair for the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We received your request form and I have contacted a mentor family. They should be in touch with you soon. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me. I, too, have a website and can be reached at www.emmasdream.com
My heart goes out to your family. I wish you the very best.
Sincerely,
Michelle L.
